Naturally Imperfect

Naturally imperfect.

Have you ever felt like that?

Have your imperfections caused you to look in the mirror and wish that you could change that part of you that is flawed?

Have you ever viewed yourself as a mistake compared to those who seem to have it all together and for whom life seems to be going along like a dream, without any struggles?

I have, for soon after my birth, changes began to take place in me that caused me to become…

Naturally imperfect.

No longer did I have the perfect image of how the perfect horse should look.

In fact, many horses that look me have been cast aside and rejected, because they don’t fit the mold of how a horse should look.

Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever been cast aside and rejected because you don’t fit the mold of how others dictate you should be?

Do you know the feeling when others look at your exterior and all they see is your imperfections? Instead of looking past the imperfections to your heart – to who you really are – they sneer, laugh, mock, and belittle you.

And you find yourself cast aside…

Because you are naturally imperfect.

But, here is the truth…

Natural imperfections don’t dictate my value or anyone else’s value…

At least they shouldn’t.

But, often they do…

For horses and people alike.

And I still have value, even though I am…

Naturally imperfect.

And so, in this New Year, I am undertaking the journey that I began so long ago…

To share with you my story as I have learned to not only live with, but also thrive with my flaws, for I have discovered that my imperfections are not what make me, me. I am still a horse with a heart that loves to run and have companionship with other horses and the people who are in my life.  I have a mind that is curious and loves to discover.  I have a will to live and to enjoy the life that I have been given…

Even though I am flawed. Marred.  Blemished.

And thankfully, my humans have chosen to love me, even though…

I am naturally imperfect.

And so, I invite you to join me on this adventure as I share with you the tales of life from a horse’s mouth that is learning to live life confidently, even though I am…

Naturally imperfect.
