Tips To Ace Your Finals

Hi everyone! Welcome back to another blog post! I wanted to talk to everyone this week about finals testing week and give everyone my favorite tips on how to do well on your final exams. I know that us equestrians have pretty busy schedules and it can sometimes be hard to work everything in, but I am here to give you my most valued tips and tricks to ace your exams. Whether you are in college, high school, or another schooling year, I think these tips could be beneficial for preparing for your upcoming exams🤍

My first tip is going to be to try not to procrastinate studying. I know that it all happens to everyone at some point, where they want to put something off for the last minute, and trust me when I say I have been apart of this group. Over the years I have really tried working to not procrastinate as much. I have definitely found that I much rather prefer to do work a little bit everyday for a longer period of time than trying to cram everything in the weekend or night before a test. Studying over a longer period of time helps the information to be stored in your long term memory instead of your short term memory, which means you are more likely to retain it and remember it better.

My second tip would be to know what kind of study technique works best for you. I know that my favorite ways to study are you put my lecture information into a quizlet and study that. As for my biochem class, we have to learn a variety of scientific processes and I learn and retain those better writing them out multiple times on a whiteboard or piece of paper.

My third tip for you is to identify what kind of learner you are. This tip kind of goes along with tip number two but identifying what type of learner you are will help you better prepare for your exams. Whether that be a hands on learner, auditory learner, visual learner, etc. if you are a visual or hands on type of learner studying in a way an auditory learner would, it may not be as beneficial to you as it would them.

My fourth tip is to make sure you are eating, drinking, and getting enough sleep. I cannot emphasize this enough but it is so essential for you to be fueling your body appropriately as well as getting enough sleep. Your brain needs these things to proper functionally. Without them, you probably won’t be performing at your normal level which coincides both for studying and riding.

My last tip of the day is to make sure you are studying in a place that you feel most comfortable and productive. I know for me, I can’t focus if there is a lot of noise around me unless it’s natural nature sounds. I also struggle to focus if I am uncomfortable whether that be too cold/hot, not in a comfy chair, etc. For me to get the most out of my study sessions, I need a quiet atmosphere.

I hope these tips helped you in some way and to do well on you finals!!
